Hello. This week I finished a pink tourmaline brooch done with art clay and sterling sheet. Recently I attended a weekend course at John C. Campbell Folk School where we made our own plates for art clay. The patterned clay burns away in the kiln leaving pure silver. There is a minimal amount of shrinkage. Personally I like having a more substantial back and riveted sterling silver sheet to the fine silver. After adding the patina, I set the pink tourmaline. I really think the end result is very pretty. Below is a picture.

As an update to the class that I taught recently at John C. Campbell Folk School, I received pins made by two of my students to wear on my work apron. They are such sweet gifts and am so proud to wear them. As a class gift, I received a beautiful hand painted silk scarf. The class was awesome and I will always treasure each person's friendship and their thoughtful gifts.

I am now on twitter as skjartjewelry. If you would like to follow me, please look me up.

Best regards to everyone! Susan Jones
